Upright Egg is excited to announce auditions for its upcoming show Songbird!
 
Songbird runs June 17, 18, 19, and 23rd at the Southern Theater as part of the Steampunk Dreams Festival. Rehearsals will take place for a few weeks in April, with a few weeks off while the script is drafted. We reconvene mid-May to rehearse until the show opens.
 
UE is seeking 5 - 9 performers to aid in creating and performing Songbird, a steampunk fairie tale and alternate history, examining the fascinating cultural evolution that happened during the Victorian era, the issues that arise when technology replaces nature, and ridiculously overblown compound words. Songbird is based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Nightingale", and will be built by the ensemble and told through puppetry and movement.
 
Auditions will be Wed April 13 and Thur April 14 7:00 - 10:00. Auditions will consist of two parts.
 

• Presenting materials provided or a prepared 60-second monologue of your choosing
  
• A group piece
